The Natural Place For People

Grantown-on-Spey, in the Scottish Highlands, is perfectly placed in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park and at one end of Scotland’s 90 mile Snow Road.

Grantown is a great place to work, live in and visit with plenty of outdoor space, a High Street full of independent shops, a local supermarket, hotels, guest houses, B&Bs, self-catering properties and a caravan park, many of which are award-winning!

We have leisure and outdoor activities on our doorstep – golfing, fishing, walking, cycling (including a mountain bike trail park) and wildlife. Winter sports lovers are well catered for with Aviemore just 14 miles to the south, the mighty Cairngorm mountains beyond and The Lecht Ski Resort less than half an hour away.

It’s a great place to visit all year. Watch our videos below for a wee taste of what Grantown has to offer:

Stunning Scottish Highlands location

A planned town with beautiful architecture and protected buildings, Grantown-on-Spey boasts a community-owned woodland leading down to the famous River Spey which draws people from all over the world for fishing and watersports. Surrounded by Highland estates offering country sports, we are also close to a steam railway which will be coming to Grantown very soon thanks to the tireless efforts of the Rails to Grantown group, who have been campaigning and fund raising for years to bring the train back to town.

There are endless walks in and around the town and a purpose-built cycle trail in Anagach Woods. Disabled accessible paths lead through the woods too so everyone can enjoy our beautiful area, and wildlife can be seen throughout the year.

Grantown-on-Spey is also home to the Craig MacLean Leisure Centre which is open to everyone.

A welcoming business and local community

We have a lovely traditional High Street, with wonderful independent shops, you won’t find any large chain stores here! To satisfy your food needs we have a good choice of cafes, bars and restaurants – you are never far from good Highland food to keep you going.

We have a thriving church community in and around Grantown plus a variety of adult learning classes, dance groups, art and craft groups plus the Cairngorm Farmers Market comes to the Town Square once a month throughout the summer. Our town hosts various events throughout the year from Truck In 2 Grantown and the Harley Davidson rally through to the Grantown Show, Motor Mania and the crown of them all, our Hogmanay Street Party.

These businesses and events are used and attended by locals and visitors alike, and talking of locals did we mention our playgroup, Primary school and Grammar school as well so Grantown-on-Spey really is a lovely place to bring up a family.

Grantown-on-Spey: a great place to live, work and visit!
